RentLondonFlat Director William Tsui and his family

“My wife and I realised with our two sons the challenge ASD can pose for families. Believe me it can be really difficult to get support for children. The supply of reliable information, both for families, and for the general population, is far below where it needs to be. I am pleased to have this platform to work on my personal goal of raising public awareness about ASD.”

— William Tsui, Director, RentLondonFlat.com

RentLondonFlat Director William Tsui stands just few days away from achieving his personal goal of fundraising for the National Autistic Society , and raising awareness about autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a developmental disorder that he has come to know all too well from raising his two sons.

ASD is a neurological disorder that affects social communication and emotional relations between the sufferer and others in their environment. Sufferers have trouble with body language such as eye contact and displaying and reading appropriate facial expressions. People with ASD also show repetitive physical behaviours which in many cases can become very extreme and traumatic. All this can make going to school, work, and forming friendships and other social relations very burdensome. The latest research summaries report that ASD continues to be more common in males than females. ASD occurs in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. There are about 700,000 people in the UK affected by it.

EuGin Song, founder and managing director of RentLondonFlat.com, spoke to the role that the company plays in allowing room for people to express themselves on a personal level and achieve their social and community goals: “We exist as an organisation not only to serve our clients, our staff have passions and goals beyond RentLondonFlat, which is the way it should be. What William is doing here is leading the way, encouraging all our staff to motivate themselves to give something back to the society and community that nurtures us. Personal and social development has its own vital importance, right alongside growing the company and business development!”

Tsui was asked about his choice of fundraising method—the London to Brighton Cycle Ride—and related that back to RentLondonFlat’s environmentally friendly ethos. He remarked, “Being a green-friendly company is an aim we constantly strive towards. We have always been a virtual office company, trying to reduce our footprint in as many ways as possible. Yet, I often have to travel around London to meet partners and clients. Despite loving my cars, in the past year I have left my car at home and got around by bicycle. This is thanks to the cycle to work scheme that RentLondonFlat offers. Now I’m really addicting to cycling, so the London to Brighton ride was an easy choice to make!”

At the time of writing, Tsui has raised 87% of his fundraising target of £1000, thanks to 31 unique contributors. There is just one weekend of fundraising left—please donate whatever you can to make this goal a reality!

The focus of my professional career is helping humans and artificial intelligence systems work better together, in the context of real estate operations in the lived environment, and in customer service psychology. My wider goals in life more generally are to help build, and to nurture — to contribute to projects greater than myself, particularly in community service and education.
