Is there financial help available to pay my rent?

Financing for Guests (and Guarantors) to help with rent payments

a. Credit card issuers and other loan providers are relaxing their terms and removing missed payment fees. These temporary measures have been put in place to help people meet their payment obligations during this pandemic.

b. You could apply for such financing, it is your responsibility to do so proactively as part of your rent payment contingency planning.

c. You should confirm in writing from financing providers that pursuing these options will not affect their credit report, this has also been put in place in response to the pandemic.

Government financial measures for Guests to help with rent payments

a. You can apply for Universal Credit (through Jobcentre Plus) and local council Discretionary Housing Budget payments to help you financially.

b. Applications can be made regardless of Guest income level, they can also be made if you are self-employed.

c. It is your responsibility to apply to local government bodies for such help.

d. COVID-19 guidance for employees from Public Health England

e. Check with your employer if they are pursuing all available options to support their financial situation, in order to continue paying you at least in some measure during this pandemic.
